The 14th International Meeting on Phytolith Research will be held at the Institució Milà i Fontanals de Recerca en Humanitats, Spanish National Research Council (IMF-CSIC), in Barcelona from 14–19 July 2025. Organised by the International Phytolith Society, this biennial meeting is a major international forum for researchers in archaeobotany, palaeoecology, and related fields.
As part of the programme, Dr. Robert Power will be leading a workshop on Monday 14 July focused on recent methodological developments in phytolith identification using morphometric techniques. He will also present a paper examining the combined use of phytoliths and diatoms to infer dietary practices from charred food crusts in northern Japan.
